Flame Shield FX1
A new innovation, designed to protect workers heads in flash fire hazard environments
The Cooler Heads, Flame Shield FX1 is a lightweight flash fire protection system for the head and face.
The average duration of a flash fire is just 3 seconds. The Flame Shield activates when it senses a rapid rise in temperature, protecting the face and head from fire. The Flame Shield FX1 is designed to be worn over standard flame retardant clothing, and can be worn in all weather conditions.
The Flame Shield FX1 is designed to be comfortable, flexible, non-restrictive and easy to put on and take off. The Flame Shield is worn over the shoulders, much like a pair of shoulder pads, but without the added bulk and is secured with easy to attach and remove clips, just beneath the worker’s arms.
After a short period of time, the worker may not even realize they have it on, but they will be protected
How does it work?
At 100 degrees Celsius, the sensors are activated, and immediately trigger a release of compressed gas. The gas initiates a rapid expansion of the protective shield.
Once the danger has passed, the wearer simply pulls down or tears away the protective shield so they can see, then make their way to a safe area.
The wearer’s head and face are protected from the flash fire and they won’t be subjected to scarring or disfiguring burns.
